    Long Distance Relationships

You're going out with someone that is moving or has moved away? Will it work?

How do you know when a relationship will work out? There is no way to tell for sure. Long distance relationships can be hard, but they can also be really good. Whenever you are going out with someone from far away, it makes you value the time with them so much more.

There are many reasons for people in long distance relationships breaking up. Some of them include:
  • Meeting someone else
  • Not staying in touch
  • Addictions

There are ways to help it along. You can start by writing letters often. Maybe 1-3 a week. It way seem like a lot, but when you think about it, it's a small price to pay to have a relationship. Frequent visits can also help. If they are having a very special moment, then it is also good for you to be there for them. Internet chats or e-mail are a good way. The chats espescially because you can talk to them at the same time. Phone the person about once a week. Just calling to say hello can be nice.

I have found that long distance relationships work really good for me. Once I moved away from my friend, we didn't talk for many years. Then, out of the blue, I decided to look her phone number up in the phone book and called her. Finally, we wrote letters back and forth. In the second letter, she asked me out. I hadn't gone out with anyone since I had moved from where I was, so I said yes. Then, I found out that I was moving back near her. Once I did that, we seemed to see each other more. We started to have more fights, and the relationship just crumbled.

Different people have different experiences. This is just one of mine. A break up can be hard, but there's nothing that you can do about it. If you lie around all day doing nothing, then you'll get really depressed and lose interest in dating for a while. There is no way to tell if a relationship will work, but I believe that whatever happens, happens for a reason.
